Sylvia Rose Smith

Sylvia Rose Smith 68 of Herrin passed away in the Herrin Hospital September 15, 2020 at 9:20 am. She was born in Warrensburg Mo. January 13, 1952 to Carl Burford and mother Shirley Valentine. She was married to Gordon Smith he preceded her in death. Sylvia is survived by 3 children Lori and husband Wesley Franklin of North Richland Hills Texas, Gordy and wife Lani Smith of Herrin and Tommy Smith of Herrin. She also has several brothers and sisters, 12 grand children and 18 great grand children. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parent and 1 brother Richard Leon Burford, step father Henry Valentine and her husband. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Carterville. Memorials can be made to the Victory Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at the Victory Baptist Church 1400 Samuel Road Carterville Ill. at 1:00 pm Saturday September 19, 2020 and visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service. Internment will follow at the Herrin City Cemetery.
