Steve Ray Hastings

Steve Hastings, a resident of Freeman Spur, Illinois, passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 16, 2025, at 4:00 AM.He was  born on September 17, 1964, in Carbondale, Illinois, he was the son of Claude and Linda (Ingersol) Hastings.

Steve is survived by his three children, Breanna Hastings and her fiancé Jared Craig, and Steven Hastings Jr. and his fiancé Cassie Bramlett and Zachary Gillmore.  He is also remembered by his brother, Brad Hastings of California, as well as his parents and three grandchildren: Cameron, Aiden, and Brysen. 

A dedicated carpenter, Steve contributed his skills to several companies in the area throughout his career. His work and passion for his craft were well regarded by colleagues and clients alike.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM, which will be officiated by Rev. Don Colson at Van Natta Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Carbondale.

Steve Hastings will be fondly remembered for his kindness and dedication to his family and profession. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched.
