Shirley Ann Perotta

It is with profound love and sorrow that we share the news of Shirley Perotta's passing. She peacefully left this world on October 5, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by the affection of her family.

Shir journey began on July 17, 1934, in St. Louis, where she was born to Fred and Marie Hirth. Throughout her life, Shirley exemplified warmth, kindness, and an unyielding strength. After dedicating many years of her life to her role as a bookkeeper at Zwick's in Herrin, Shirley found her greatest joy in her retirement, embracing the role of grandmother with open arms and an open heart.

Those who knew Shirley cherished her for the simple joys she found in life—nothing mattered more to her than time spent with loved ones. Her laughter, insight, and immense spirit enriched the lives of many, and the memories she has created will forever echo in the hearts of those she cherished.

Shirley leaves behind her beloved brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Hirth; her devoted children, Tina Mattingly, Trudy Perotta, and Tiffany Perotta-Linquist; and her treasured grandchildren, Athena Yancey and partner Chad Reynolds, Ty and spouse Adrianne Perotta, Tori and Lance Mattingly, Jakob, Peytie, Lyric, Gavin, and Cole Linquist, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Hirth, as well as her nephews, Kenny and Stephen Hirth.

Shirley's life was a shining example of grace and resilience, and her legacy will endure through the kindness she shared and the love she bestowed upon all.

In alignment with her wishes, Shirley will be cremated, and a private service will be held. The arrangements are being cared for by VaNatta funeral home. We invite all who loved Shirley to remember her spirit and the joy she brought into our lives.
