Scott Nicks, a cherished son, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Illinois, at the age of 50. Born in Herrin to Jerry and Janet (Emery) Nicks, who survive him, Scott's life was a testament to love, strength, and family.
He and his ex wife, Danielle Kluge of Benton, shared countless memories and built a beautiful family together. Scott was a proud father of two daughters, Chastity, and her husband Ashton Charlet, and Haley, alongside her husband Caleb Norris, all of whom reside in Herrin. His heart expanded with joy as he embraced his role as a grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren: Tritonn, Korra, Paislee, Karson, and Waylon. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Scott's family also extended to his brother, Jerry, and sister-in-law Emily Nicks, who provided unwavering support throughout his life. He is fondly remembered by his uncle Joe Allen and aunt Vivian Hall, both of Herrin, along with his two nephews, Brandon (and his wife Dayna) and William, his niece Taylor, and a great niece, Amilia, all who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his family ties, Scott found companionship in his girlfriend, Rosemary Schemonia of Murphysboro, Illinois, who brought warmth and joy into his life.
A funeral service honoring Scott’s memory will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, with Rev. Todd Hawk officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in the Herrin City Cemetery, where his loved ones can gather to celebrate a life well-lived.
Scott’s legacy will live on through the love he shared and the memories he created with those around him. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.
