Sally Roberson Ricker

Sally Roberson Ricker was born on January 25th, 1943 in Herrin, Illinois to her parents Charlene and Keith Roberson.

She lived a long interesting life full of experiences to be envied. She was elected Homecoming Queen of Herrin in 1960, attended SIU at Carbondale, then headed for Chicago to start her career.

She dated the Greek Ambassador, was a model for Helene Curtis, then later dated one of the Minnesota Vikings. She was a top tier stock broker in Chicago starting in the 70s when there weren't a handful of women in the field.

Then she met the love of her life Verne Ricker and they started their 30 marriage together full of world traveling, beach vacations, and boating on the lakes of Southern Illinois.

Known affectionately as "Aunt Sally" to her niece and nephews, she helped them all negotiate through life and will be sorely missed. Her stories, her bright laughter, and her fabulous off beat sense of style will be remembered long after her passing.

Verne passed away in July of last year and Aunt Sally had declined in health ever since. She left this world May 24th we're all sad to say.

She was also preceded in death by her Mother and Father, brother Jerry Roberson, nephew Shayne Crawshaw, and Verne's daughter Vickie Lacognata. Van Natta Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
