Riley Lee Anderson (1/04/1945-1/23/2019), the perfect son, died of smoking related diseases. After smoking for nearly 60 years, his words to everyone he met were, “Quit now, it’s not worth it! I wish I had.” We all wish he had been able to. He was born the King of Herrin (New Years Baby) in 1945 in Herrin, IL to Carl & Verlamae (Gossage) Anderson, weighing 13 pounds on a chicken scale. He was the 3rd person hired at Revlon Cosmetics when they opened a plant in Phoenix, AZ; he worked in the maintenance department for 28 years before retiring to Pleasant Valley Lake in Marion, IL. He loved animals more than people but was always willing to drop everything and help wherever he was needed. He was happiest at the lake surrounded by his cats and beloved dog, Sadie. He is survived by his devoted sister, Kathleen (Anderson) DuVall-Woodcock and brother-in-law Art, of Herrin, IL; Daughter, Tracy (Anderson)Lessard (Robert) of Phoenix, AZ; Son, Carl Anderson (Deni) of Seguin, TX; Niece, Kristina (DuVall) Hale (Jason) of Carterville. 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, and a slew of others he claimed along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Julianne. We would like to thank all of you for your love and prayers. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lone Oak Baptist Church, Herrin, IL or adopt a rescue pet/donate to your local no kill shelter in his honor. Services will be held at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy, IL; Saturday, January 26th, visitation from 5:00 to 7:00pm with the service immediately following at 7:00pm.
