Marilyn Kennedy, a beloved soul cherished by many, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 83 in the comfort of her home. She graced this world with her presence on June 10, 1941, in Chicago to her loving parents Earl and Fern (Laird) Kennedy.
A heartfelt funeral service to honor Marilyn life will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Reverend Don Colson will lead the service where friends and family can offer their final goodbyes. Visitation will commence at 11:00 am on Thursday until the time of the service. The burial will follow at the Herrin City Cemetery.
In Marilyn's journey of love and companionship, she was blessed with multiple marriages. She was joined in matrimony to William Ronald Bird until his passing in 1990. Later in life, she found happiness with Larry Kennedy and Bill Williams; both of whom have also departed. Marilyn is survived by her three devoted sons - Billy and his wife Janet Bird of Zeigler, Roger Bird of Herrin, Archie and his wife Marietta Bird of Cadiz Ky - as well as her daughter Cristy and husband Ronald Wyatt of Marion.
Among those who mourn her loss are her dear sister Darlene Blanchard of Starke Florida, along with two sisters-in-law: Kyle Bird of Herrin and Earlene Fairley of Anna Maria Island Florida. Marilyn leaves behind a legacy through her six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; each a testament to a life lived with love and devotion.
Marilyn's memory is now reunited with those who went before her - her loving husbands, parents, and nine brothers and sisters. Throughout her life's journey, she found solace in faith as a member of Zeigler 1st Baptist Church.
Marilyn Kennedy's presence touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be held dear by those who had the privilege to know her. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of heaven's grace.
