Lomelda Dwyer, a beloved member of the community, passed away on September 1, 2023, in her hometown of Herrin. Born on February 17, 1925, in Herrin, Lomelda lived a rich and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lomelda's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Herrin. Her unwavering belief in God guided her actions and instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and kindness towards others.

Lomelda's journey through life was marked by love and companionship. She was first married to Carl Branch, followed by her marriage to Lee Dwyer. Lomelda cherished these relationships and found immense joy in the company of her loved ones.

Lomelda's family meant everything to her. She adored her three children: Carlene and husband Tom Wilson of Carterville, Pamela and husband Andy Sims of DeSoto Texas, and George and wife Helen Branch of Texas. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she always made sure they felt supported and cherished.

In addition to her own children, Lomelda also stepped into the role of stepmother for three individuals who quickly became an integral part of her life: Richard Dwyer of Lexington Kentucky, Martha Turner of San Antonio Texas, and William Dwyer of Texas. Lomelda embraced them with open arms, nurturing strong bonds that would last a lifetime.

Lomelda will be remembered as a pillar in her community. Her warm smile and genuine interest in others touched countless lives over the years. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel seen and valued.

Her dedication to serving others extended beyond her immediate circle. Lomelda actively participated in various charitable endeavors throughout her life. Whether it was volunteering at the local food pantry or lending a helping hand to those in need, she demonstrated true selflessness and compassion.

Lomelda's kind and caring spirit will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry her memory in their hearts.

A visitation service will be held on September 8, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 S Park Ave in Herrin, IL. Friends and family are invited to come together to share memories and support one another during this difficult time. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating. Burial will be at the Egyptian Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Van Natta Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangments.

As we mourn the loss of Lomelda Dwyer, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her impact on our lives will forever be cherished, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
