James Robert Green

James Robert "Bob" Green was born in Herrin on February 7, 1953 , he was the first son of James Bob and Joyce Ann (Jones) Green. He graduated from Herrin High School  and received his Master's Degree from SIU. He worked for St. Louis Public Schools for over 20 years and retired in 2019 as the Vocational Curriculum Coordinator.

Bob lived in St Louis for 20 years and was a Christian man who sang in a gospel quartet and church choir. He loved Star Wars and Star Trek, enjoyed learning foreign languages, playing Jeopardy and spending time with his family. Bob was a diehard Cubs Fan and was a history buff and watched the movie Gettysburg hundreds of times. Bob could make a sandwich out of anything.

Bob is survived by his mother of Herrin, 2 daughters Teresa Coleman (Matthew LaBotte) of Herrin and Tina Green of DuQouin, 1 son Tom Green of Herrin. He is also survived by 3 grand children, Natalie Coleman, Noah Coleman both of Herrin and Jade Green of Mission Viejo, California, 1 brother Bill and wife Sandy Green,1 niece Ashley and husband Brad Wolkowitz and family, 1 aunt, uncles and many cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pete and Beulah Green and Pete and Frances Jones, his Dad and 1 grandson Jordan Lewis.

Funeral service will be Saturday April 22, 2023 at the Van Natta Funeral Home at 1:00pm with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of the service Saturday. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery following the service. Memorial donations can be made to the Family, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
