Imogene Jones

Imogene “Jean” Jones (Atkins), of Benton, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2026, at Stonebridge Care Center in Benton.She was born in Sesser, Illinois, to Leonard and Cora (Risley) Atkins. Imogene owned and operated a beauty shop for many years and enjoyed the friendships she made throughout her life. She loved dancing with friends, had a deep faith and love for her church, and especially cherished Christmas. She found great joy in making the holidays special and ensuring that every child received a gift.She is survived by her three sons: Bob Sneed and wife, Traci, of Herrin; Jim Sneed and wife, Shelly, of Sesser; and Chad Irvin and wife, Angela, of Ina.She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Bobby Sneed of Herrin; Ashley Clark and husband, Michael, of Johnston City; Kristin Sneed of Herrin; Jamie Jeters and husband, Shawn, of West Frankfort; Jennifer Manning of Evansville, Indiana; Candice Sneed of Marion; James Sneed of Benton; Dakota Irvin of Harrisburg; Breanna Irvin of Benton; Cheyenne Irvin of Ina; Emily Irvin of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Abigail Irvin of Ina; and Bailee Irvin of Ina.Additinal survivors include her sister, Theresa Poole and husband, Harry, of Mascoutah; her niece, Robin Foster; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mike Sneed; her brothers, Don, Chuck and Tom Atkins; and her sister, Glenda Fornear.In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated, and arrangements have been entrusted to Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin.
