Golda LaDonne Childers

Golda LaDonne Childers passed away Thursday, February 23 surrounded by her family.  She was 87 years old. 
LaDonna was born on July 23, 1936, in Benton, Il, to Herbert and Alice Pearl (Mandrell) Conner.  They preceded LaDonne in death.

She married James A (Jim) Childers on June 13, 1955. He preceded her in death. They were married for 55 years. 

LaDonna worked for the Herrin Unit 4 School district as a Head Cook for many years, until her retirement in 2008.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Herrin, where she was very active with the youth and cooked many meals for the congregation. Before her illness, she was an active member of the Methodist Sisters.

LaDonne was proceeded in death by her parents, and brothers, Kenneth Conner, Gerald Conner, Frankie Conner, Dale Conner, Gale Conner, Joey Conner, and sister  Hazel (skip) Conner.  Stepsister Jessie Fitzgerald. One Granddaughter, Elizabeth Childers

She is survived by her 3 Children,  James Michael (Cheri) Childers of Marion, Il.  George E. (Jeanne) Childers of Bloomington, Il.  Kimberly R (Tom) Butler of Herrin, Il.  Nine Grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cymmy) Childers, of Herrin, Kaleb (Alison) Childers of Carmi, Il.
Garrett (Taylor) Butler of Herrin, IL.  Conner Butler, of Herrin, Il.  Austin (Taylor) Butler of Herrin, Il.  Christopher (Meghan) Childers, of Arlington Heights, Il Alex Childers of Chicago, Il.  Erica (Keenan) Hess of Alabama, and Sydney (Derek) Wall, Marion, Il.
6 Great Grandchildren.
One Brother-in-Law, Paul (Buddy) Childers of Herrin, Il. One Sister-In-Law Marjorie Conner of Pensacola, Fl.  

The family would like to thank the many staff at Reflections Memory Center for their dedication and care of our Mother.

LaDonne was a loving wife, mother, and Grandmother.  She had a great relationship with the Lord and was a good friend to many.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The funeral service will be at the Van Natta Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday starting at 11:00 am untill time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery
