Eloise (Aronson) Sellars, 76, of Herrin, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. She was born in Herrin on March 4, 1947, to Knute and Helen (Steckenrider) Aronson, who preceded her in death. Eloise graduated from Herrin High School, Class of 1964, and later attended the Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technician in St. Louis, Missouri. Her dedication led her to work as a lab technician for over 50 years.

 

In 1966, Eloise married the love of her life, Deon Sellars. They shared many beautiful years together until Deon's passing in 2013. Eloise had an incredible spirit and a genuine love for people. She never met a stranger and consistently extended the warmth of her heart and soul to those she encountered. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

 

Eloise is survived by her loving daughter Carol and husband John Iden of Platte City, Missouri; two granddaughters, Corinne and her husband Matt Thiessen of Camden Point, Missouri; and Marissa Iden of Kansas City Missouri. She is also survived by two sisters: Karlee and husband Steve Pentecost of Chesapeake, Virginia; Beth Humes of Belleville Illinois; one brother Carl and wife Carol Aronson of Herrin; two brothers-in-law: Vernell Sellars and Becky Fishel of Marion; Paul Sellars of Alton Illinois; three sisters-in-law: Joan Parker of Romeoville Illinois; Verla Parks of Geneva Illinois; Beverly and husband Gary Massetto of Marion Illinois. Additionally, she leaves behind several beloved nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were blessed by her presence.

 

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers-in-law: Brad Humes, J.W. Sellars, Bill Sellars, Jack Parker, and Gene Parker; three sisters-in-law: Doris Sellars, Geneva Sellars, and Lou Sellars; two nephews: Stevie Sellars and Jim Martin; and two nieces: Marsha Holpuch and Kimmy Sellars.

 

A reception will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Dotty Event Center from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm located at 210 North Park Avenue in Herrin. In memory of Eloise's compassionate nature, memorial contributions can be made in the form of random acts of kindness - something she did quietly and often. Arrangements have been entrusted to Richard Van Natta at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin.
