Dennis Triplett, a resident of Herrin, Il. and accomplished multi-talented individual, was called home on Sunday May 28th, 2023 at Helia Healthcare in Benton, Il. He was eighty-seven.

Born on January 20th, 1936 to Homer and Minnie (Payne) of Herrin, Il., Dennis was blessed with an indomitable spirit that characterized him throughout his life. He held many positions throughout his life including those of a police officer in Zeigler, Il., a correctional officer in Joliet Il., and a construction worker in Southern and Northern Il until he retired. In his leisure time, he would passionately traverse the length and breadth of the United States on his motorcycle relishing the sights and sounds that this vast country had to offer. Dennis was an active member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) and the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA).

His love for motorcycles brought him to Bald Knob Cross where he served as the highly-regarded "Chili Man" at the famed Blessing of the Bikes event for ten years before retiring his bike. Dennis was also deeply spiritual throughout his life as exemplified by him being a member of South Pointe Church of God in West Frankfort.

Dennis was survived by his wife Roberta (Bobbie) Triplett of Herrin along with several children: son Jerry (Susan) from Zeigler; daughter Kimberly (Bob) Essick from Herrin; Deborah Roncaglione from Georgia; Eddye Massie from Kentucky; son Dennis Michael from Tennessee; stepsons Allen (JoAnne) Schmitt from Herrin and Robert (Tasha) from Marion. His brother Robert Triplett from Herrin along with sister-in-law Marcie Wolfe; Donna (Mark) Slafter from Ina Il; and sister and brother-in-law Christina (Norman) Johnson from Batavia Il also survive him. Furthermore, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lastly, Dennis has 46 grandchildren along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

However, Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Leonard, Harold, Gene, Tommy and Woodrow; three sisters Leona, Pearl and Halene; one son Robert Arthur; stepsons Christopher and Jerrod; and one grandson Jon Michael and one great-great-granddaughter.

The funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday June 2nd, 2023. The visitation for family will begin at 10:00 am while the visitation for visitors will commence at 11:00 am at Van Natta Funeral Home. Rev. Don Colson will officiate the burial at Herrin City Cemetery.

Dennis Triplett's life was one that impacted many people in lasting ways that few can match. His passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him but let us take comfort in the fact that he led a full life that touched so many lives in profound ways. He will always be remembered as an incredible soul who walked among us in kindness and love.
