Dolores Cornell

Dolores Cornell, a cherished matriarch, gently departed this world on September 24, 2025, at the age of 95, at Helia Healthcare of Energy. Born in Herrin to the loving parents Loy and Alice (Bush) Maxey, Dolores led a life filled with love and devotion to her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Curtis, and his wife, Deanna Cornell, who reside in Perryville, Missouri. Dolores was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit within them. Her legacy shines brightly through their lives.

Dolores was united in marriage with Richard Cornell, who predeceased her on September 9, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her beloved parents and her two sons, Gregory and Ron Cornell, as well as her daughter, Tammy Hovenga, each leaving a profound impact on her heart.

A funeral service honoring her remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with Rev. Ralph Brandon presiding. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Dolores will find her final resting place in Blairsville Cemetery.
