Mrs. Effie Harmon, 98 of Herrin, Illinois died on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Country Acres assisted live in Marion. Mrs. Harmon was married to William F. Harmon he died in 1976. She was born Monday, February 12, 1912 in Bumpus Mills, Tennessee to Thomas and Memory (Taylor) Ford.Surviving are son, Mr. Ivan and wife Maxine Harmon of Chittyville. Two sisters Marie Beavers of Springfield Ill. and Ruby Law of Jacksonville Fl. There are two grandchildren, Joe and wife Carolyn Harmon of Herrin and Kerri and husband Tom Mosley of Syracuse New York, six great grandchildren, Dusty, Mandi, Jeanie and Jodi, Jamie Dallas and Christopher Dallas of Fort Meyers Fl., 5 great- great grandchildren. Also surviving is several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Joe Harmon, 1 daughter in law Ida Fay Harmon, 2 grand daughters Toni Dallas and Kimberly Harmon and 1 great grand son Patrick Harmon Furr and 5 year old brother. She was of the protestant faith. Mrs. Harmon had worked at Smolers and Allens in Herrin. She was a member of the V.F.W. aux and the Eagles Aux. of Herrin. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Inc. envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Services will be Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin at 11:00am Rev. Ed Hoke and Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Herrin.
