Richard Allen Cornell

Mr. Richard Allen Cornell, age 82, of Herrin, IL, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL. Mr. Cornell was born in Hurst Ill to Ralph and Elsie (Eaves) Cornell they preceded him in death. Mr. Cornell was owner of Cornell Agency in Herrin Ill. He accepted Christ early in life. He attended the Church of Christ in Herrin Ill., and was a 50 year member of Herrin Masonic Lodge #693. He was married to Dolores (Maxey) Cornell they were married on July 11, 1946 she survives. Other survivors are 3 sons Gregory and wife Deborah Cornell of Herrin Illinois, Ronald Cornell of Johnston City Illinois and Curtis and wife Deanna of Mascoutah, and one daughter Tamara and husband Stanley Hovenga of Carterville. Also there are 8 grand children Douglas and wife Stephanie Cornell, Ryan and wife Amy Cornell, Christopher Cornell, Kyle Cornell, Adam Hovenga, Andrew and wife Teresa Hovenga, Aaron and Janice Hovenga and Lindsey and husband Brian Adams, and 9 great grand children. Mr Cornell was preceded in death by parents infant brother and infant son Scott Taylor Cornell. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00pm with visitation Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 at Van Natta funeral Home in Herrin . Masonic Rites will be at 7:00pm Sunday by Herrin Prairie Lodge #693. Memorials can be made to Church of Christ envelops will be available at the funeral home.
