Ruby Allene Jack, born in Herrin, Illinois (Sunnyside) on August 19, 1921. Her parents were Salena and Claude Ingram. After graduating from high school, Ruby worked at the Illinois Ordinance Plant. On October 3, 1943, she married William Griggs Jack who preceded her in going to heaven in 2008. Ruby and Bill raised three children: William C. Jack, who resides in Castle Rock, Colorado; Rebecca Renshaw, who resides in Carterville, Illinois, and Gretchen J. Fleming, who resides in Chesterfield, Missouri. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Ruby also enjoyed teaching Sunday school, playing piano for the First United Methodist Church every Wednesday and Sunday night for over thirty years, being a member of the music department for the Herrin Women's Club. Later in life, Ruby successfully completed several course at Southern Illinois University in interior design. With her flair for interior decorating, Ruby also was a successful real estate agent employed by Bracy Realty Company. Ruby loved the outdoors and all the activities that came with being outside:planting, golfing, swimming, and taking long walks. More than any thing though, Ruby loved God and her family. She professed God's grace throughout her almost thirty year battle with Parkinson's. She has gone home where there is no more sickness or disease. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, Ruby wishes people to contribute to her homechurch, The United Methodist Church of Herrin where she first committed her life to Christ at the age of twenty eight. Services will be at Van Natta Funeral Home Monday at 10:00 am with the Rev. Ed Hoke and Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
