Patricia Parsons

Mrs. Patricia A. Parsons, 85 of Herrin, Illinois died on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion, Illinois. She was born Wednesday, August 10, 1932 in Bartonville, Illinois to Herbert and Winifred (Spence) Zook. She was united in marriage to Dwight Parsons on August 14, 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church, together they shared 31 years of marriage until his death June 19, 1985. During this time they made their home in Herrin, Independence Missouri, Downer Grove Illinois and West Simsbury Connecticut. She stared teaching at North Side School in Herrin. She was Program Director at Family Crisis Center for 16 years. She attended Herrin High School and graduated from SIU 1954 with a B.S. in kindergarten and primary education. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Herrin and has served as a Deacon and Elder. She enjoyed traveling and making scrapbooks. Surviving are sister, Mrs. Beverly Yancey of Herrin, IL, 1 daughter Gretchen(Jack) Hampsey, grandchildren, Kaleigh Metopoulos, Cody Ray, Jordan Ray, Trace Hampsey and 1 great grandson Max Metropoulon. She is also survived by close friends, Kath and Roger Mason and Peggy and Robbie Stanley She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, aunt Ester Spence and brother-in-law Ronald Yancey. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Michael Neubert officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL.
