Mr. Dale R. "Lightnin" Woodis, 67 of Herrin, Illinois died on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. Born Sunday, September 6, 1942 in , West Virginia to Roy and Nelma (Price) Woodis they preceded him in death. He was the husband of Latisa (Wright) Woodis. Surviving are 2 daughters and there husbands, Lori and Doug Dillard of Franklin Kty., Tammy and Kelly Kirby of Franklin Kty., 2 step children, Darrell O' Connor of Herrin, Rachel Simmerman of Carbondale. There are 5 gr. ch., Beth Dillard Charlie King, Emile Dillard, Grace Kirby, and Cole Kirby all of Franklin Kty. Also surviving is 1 gr gr ch. Ryder Bayes of Franklin Kty, 1 brother and his wife Bill and Karen Woodis of Herrin, 1 sister and her husband Judy and Dan Dusch of Desoto. There 5 neices and nehews, Billy and wife Angie Woodis of Herrin, Kelly and husband Bret Childers of Herrin, Derek Woodis and fiancee' Ramsay Williams of Herrin, Julie Patchett of Louisville Kty. and Todd and wife Tracy Cornelius of Herrin. Mr. Woodis was retire from Orpack Factory in Herrin. He was a Veteran of the Marine Corp from 1960 to 1966. Millitary rites will be preformed by American Legion and V. F. W. Post from Herrin. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2009, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois
