Betty Jo Rickenbaugh

Betty Jo (Huber) Rickenbaugh, 76 of Energy, IL died Tuesday May 2, 2017 of natural causes at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center. Born in Texas, she grew up in Missouri where she graduated from Northwest High School in 1959 and married Don Rickenbaugh Sr., her high school sweetheart and lifelong hero, in 1960. He preceded her in death in 2002. They were adventurous and lived in multiple locations to include St Louis MO, Evansville IN, Los Alamos NM and finally in Energy IL. She is survived by their four children: Kim (Rickenbaugh) Schippers, Don Rickenbaugh Jr, Aaron Rickenbaugh and Mary (Rickenbaugh) Larner. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Jessica (Rickenbaugh) Jones, Justin Rickenbaugh, Emily Larner and David Larner. Visitation will be at Van Natta Funeral Home, address 427 S Park Ave, Herrin, IL on Wednesday May 3rd from 4-6PM, with a graveside service for the family. She will be laid to rest at Herrin City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Southern IL or the charity of your choice. Betty was involved in many charitable organizations to include Foster Care and Breast Cancer Awareness. The family wishes to thank Shawnee Christian Nursing Center and for their many years of devoted care and support.
