Juanita Ramsey, 91 of Marion, Illinois died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at her home in Marion, Illinois. She was born Wednesday, April 22, 1925 in Herrin, Illinois to Arvil and Marguerite Wiggins. Surviving are her children, Davis Scott and Wife Lynn Ramsey of Aurora Co., Bruce Elves and wife Beth Ramsey of Puyallup WA. , Jonathan Lee Ramsey of Mooresville NC., James Monroe Ramsey of Carbondale Ill. and Virginia "Ginger" Ramsey and husband Tom Boden of Saint Peters MO. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grand children, 7 great Grandchildren and 6 step-great grand children. Juanita graduated from Herrin High school in 1942. She married Walt Ramsey that same year and they were married for 71 wonderful years. She worked in Willow Run in Ypsilanti, MI as Rose the Riveter during WWII helping to build B-24 aircraft. She also volunteered in various USO offices. After her children were born she stayed home volunteering as a cub scout den mother, elementary school room mother, Red Cross Staff Aid at Tachikawa AFB, VBS teacher, Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Leader and at the Shawnee Christian Center. Her hobbies included reading, hiking, sewing and making clothes for her children, grandchildren and countless Barbie dolls. She was baptized Dec. 1945 at the First Christian Church in Herrin, She and Walt traveled the world during his 30 years in the Air force. Pleas make memorial donations to the First Christian Church, envelopes will be provided by the funeral home. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Derek Levins officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
