Mr. E. J. Legan, of Herrin, Illinois died on Monday, October 5, 2015, at his home in Herrin, Illinois. He was born in Germany to John and Maria (Romines) Legan they preceded him in death. He was the husband of Anne Marie (Zekovich) Legan whom he adored and was so proud of, for her accomplishments as a writer and poet.. He is survived by his wife and 2 children, Melanie and husband, Michael Bailey of Austin Texas, Rhea Ann and husband, Rodney Allen of Stonington Ill, 4 grand children, Chad, Zachary, Selah and Christian. He is also survived by sisters in law and brothers in law, Dolores Stromerski of Herrin, Helen and Charles Tolbert of Carterville and Bob and Jane Zekovich of Christopher, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents and brother-in-law Harry Stomberski.Mr. Legan was employed at the Shawnee Correctional Facility and won the officer of the month August of 2010 and retired October 1, 2015. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Eastern Orthodox Cemetery, Royalton, IL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
