Mr. Royal Yancey, 92 of Herrin, Illinois died on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. Born Monday, July 30, 1923 in Herrin, Illinois to .Willis and Ada (Peterson) Yancey. Mr Yancey was married to Shirley (Bird) Yancey and she died July 9, 2003. Surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs. Deborah Brown and husband Peter Haag of Northville, MI ,1 son Martin and wife Charlotte Yancey of Benton, close friend Elaine Hillman of Energy, 9 grand children, Ryan and wife Kathy Brown, Russell and wife Leah Brown II all of Carterville, Willie Yancey of Indianapolis IN, Ruth Jackson of Olney, Alicia and husband Nate Jones of Olney, Shelby and husband Marcus Hutchcraft of Benton, Benjamin and wife Miranda Yancey of North Carolina, Rachael Yancey of Carbondale and Tommy Yancey of Carterville. He is also survived by 8 great great grand children and 1 daughter-in-law Missy Yancey of Carterville. Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 son Randall, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Royal was a machinist and retired from Norge and Old Ben Coal Mine. Mr Yancey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herrin, Carterville Boat and Yacht Club and was a WWII veteran of the Air Force. Mr. Yancey was a avid collector of watches and clocks and was a fan of the Kentucky Opry and Stars of Tomorrow. Memorial donations can be made to Feed the children P.O. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL..
