Florence Polifka

Mrs. Florence Polifka, 83 of Hurst, Illinois died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at home in Hurst, Illinois. She was married to Francis Polifka and he died in 2007. The family wants to thank Shawnee Alliance, The Homakers, Shawnee Christian Nursing Center, Dr. Zia, Herrin Hospital, John A. Logan nursing student for all there support during this difficult time. She was a member of the Hurst Christian Church. She was born Sunday, August 16, 1931 in Vergennes, Illinois to John and Nellie (Porter) Tow. Surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs. Cheryl and Dean Horn of Dowell, IL. and 1 son Kevin and Brenda Schimpf of Murphysboro and step-children, Rozanne and Tim Bird of Burlington WI, Steve Polifka of Milwaukee, Judy Polifka of Chicago and John Polifka of Greely CO. She is also survived by grandchildren, Dena and Eddie Teague of Elkville, Amy Horn of Hurst, John and Brandee Horn of DuQuoin, Kendra and Steve Boyd of Sesser, Chad Schimpf, Dominique Harris both of Carterville, Ryan, Kellie, Zack and Alicia Schimpf all of Makanda and 3 step grand children Other survivors include great grand children, Kali and Kelsi Teague, Alex Funk, Trevor Middleton, Hadlee, Trae and Drake Horn, Bailey, Gabe, Bradyn, Kaisyn, Briley Schimpf, Kayde Robertson and 1 great great grand daughter. Memorials can be made to Hurst Christian Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois Inc. Mrs. Polifka was preceded in death by parents, husband and 1 brother Charles. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Interment will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory, Carbondale, IL. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
