Dale Bowers, age 86, of Herrin, IL, went to be with the lord at 3:30am Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the community living center at the Marion V.A.. Mr. Bowers was born in Oak Ridge Mo. on October 11, 1928 to Verne Dale and Willie (Shaner) Bowers. He loved to work on automobiles and worked Cape GMC Pontiac and Auto Tire and Parts in Cape Girardeau, he also worked at J.C. Penney's in Carbondale. His last job was at Vernell Salvage in Marion. Mr Bowers was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church in Jackson Mo., he served in the Korea for 2 years. He love to refinish antique furniture and go to Auctions. He is survived by his wife; Evelyn (Wilkinson) Bowers of Herrin they were married in Jackson Mo.. Other survivor are 2 sons Ricky Bowers of Johnston City, Ronald Bowers of Herrin and 1 sister of Indiana. He also has 4 nephews Bradley and Brian Tollison and Allen,George Samples of Cape, 1 great niece Jennifer Arnold of Olive Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brother-n-laws and sister-in-laws and 1 granddaughter, 1 sister and a niece. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His wishes were to donate his body to medical science. He enjoyed sitting in the yard waving at friends and Neighbors. Memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society or to the V.A. Nursing Home Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park, Herrin, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2015. Funeral service will be at Van Natta Funeral Home at 7:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2015, Rev. Don Colson officiating.
