Mr. Dennis Percy Waugh, 88 of Herrin, Illinois died on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. He was born in Herrin to Phillip and Maude (Harris) Waugh September 12, 1926. He was married to Betty Mae (Robinson) Waugh of Herrin she survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Cathy and Floyd Collins of Yucca Valley Cal., Linda and Joe Andolsek of Carterville and Debbie and Mike Maeser of Herrin, IL., and 1 son Jack Waugh of Herrin. Other survivors include 1 sister Lou dean and John Cox of Herrin, 1 son-in-law Ted Rush of Marion and 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Percy was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Brenda Rush and 2 brothers James and Jack. Special thank you to Dr. Pramote and staff at the Herrin Hospital and Hospice of Southern Illinois Inc.. Mr. Waugh was a retired coal miner from Freeman United Coal, was a WWII veteran of the Navy , a member of the UMWA and a member of Bryan Street Baptist church. Memorials can be made to the Bran Street Baptist Church, envelops will be provided by the funeral home. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev Duane Faulkenberry officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL with military rites preformed by the Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion post and will be assisted by the Navy. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
