Herrin-Daniel Charles Rounds Sr (Hook), born April 17, 1927 in Clermont Iowa to George and Elizabeth (Burke) Rounds. He passed away December 23, 2014 at the Herrin Rehab Center. Dan, a World War II Veteran was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn. He is survived by his 4 sons and their families, Chuck and Linda Rounds, Mark and Peggy Rounds, Jeff and Rosie Rounds, Kirk and Ella Rounds and 1 sister Rita Forsythe of California. He also had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Herrin and worked in sales. After his sons became men and started their own families he had three passions: as a Bingo player always waiting to yell “BINGO” and getting a red 13. On the golf course he was known as “Hook”. Besides his love for the game he always talked about how much he enjoyed the comradery and according to his words. “How he taught all those young pups the game of golf”. His biggest passion through was being a “CUBBIE”. Always ready for the first pitch of the year, he was predicting the Cubs would roar this year as World Series Champions..GO CUBS. Service will be Friday January 2,2015 at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsr. Ken Schaffer officiating and visitation will be from 6:00 pm until time of service. Memorial donations can be made to the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Van Natta Funeral Home in charge of arrangments.
