Richard Long

Mr. Richard Long, 71 of Marion, Illinois died on Monday, November 17, 2014, at his residence in Marion, Illinois. Before he became ill he loved to hunt and fish and ride his lawn mower. He also loved spending time with his grand children. Born Friday, August 27, 1943 in Herrin, Illinois to Herbert "Cotton" and Imogene (Belcher) Long. He was the husband of Winnie (Bauer) Long she survives. Other survivors are 4 children;Barbara and Othman Hamoud of Chicago, Bobby Long of Texas, Clent Long and John Long both of Johnston City, 10 grand children and there spouses, Tiffany and Kenny Roman of Herrin, Duaa and Ali Hamoud Seth Long, Shetha Hamoud, Karam Hamoud, Hanaa Hamoud, Yousef Hamoud, Jassen Hamoud, Zahara Hamoud all of Chicago and Dustin Long of Johnston City. There are 4 great grand children; Tyler, Justina and Sofia and several cousins nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Danny and Steve, and several aunts and uncles. Mr Long was in the Marine Corps and was a retired coal miner. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
