Delbert Bowlin

Mr. Delbert J. Bowlin, 88 of Benton, Illinois died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at his home in Benton, Illinois. He was born Saturday, February 6, 1926 in Du Quoin, Illinois to William and Emma (Phiffer) Bowlin. He was a member of West City Church of God and was a coal miner. Mr. Bowlin served in the Navy during WWII Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Sharon and Duane Sims of Benton, IL. Sue Darnell of Metropolis , Rhonda and Clyde Childers of Valier, Tammy Hungate of Sesser and 1 son Ronald and Brandy Pierce of Benton Ill. Also surviving is 19 grand children, 31 great great grand children and 1 great great great grand child. He was married to Sandy (Black) Bowlin on September 26, 1939 in Mattoon Ill she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, 1 daughter Lisa Sanders, 1 son Anthony Pierce and 1 grand daughter Shelly Darnell. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at Rt. 148 Between Christopher and Sesser Mulkeytown, Illinois 62865 with the Rev. Harold Whitlock officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Van Natta Funeral Home, Rt. 148 Between Christopher and Sesser, Mulkeytown, Illinois. Military rites will be preformed by the Christopher American Legion and V.F.W. honor detail.
