William Darter Jr.

William Harold Darter Jr., 62 of Herrin, Illinois died on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. Born Tuesday, December 18, 1951 in Herrin, Illinois to William Darter Sr. and Lillie May (Daugherty) Darter. He was married to Barbara (Gibbs) Darter they were married 45 years, she survives. Mr. Darter is survived by 2 children Judy Keeling and family and William H. Darter III of Herrin and 4 grandchildren Andrea Darter of Herrin, Brittney Darter ,Jennifer Darter both of Ashland Main and Jonathan Brody Darter of Herrin. he also has 2 brothers Lonnie Darter of West Frankfort and Keith Darter of Herrin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent and step-mother Mary (Holden) Darter and 1 brother Chuckle Darter. He graduated from John A. Logan as a automotive Technician and worked as service manager at Goodyear for 16 years. He started Darter automotive repair in from 1977 to 1989 then opened a CB repair shop until the mid 90's. He always worked hard and was very successful. He was love by all and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed. He love to do woodworking and was known as sawdust maker. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to on Friday, July 18, 2014, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
