Russell L. Watson

Mr. Russell R. L. Watson Sr., age 72, of Herrin, IL, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home in Herrin, IL. Mr.Watson was employed by UMWA and also worked at Norge for 22 years . He was a member of 1st Baptist Church and the UMWA. He was born in Energy Jan, 6, 1936 to Russell F. Watson and Emma Lucille (Odum) Watson. His parents preceded him in death. He is also survived by his wife; Joyce (Hampton) Watson. 2 sons and 2 Daughter in laws, Steve and Kathy Watson of Herrin, Russell Jr. and Jennifer Watson of Herrin, 1 daughter Sheree Watson of Mt Vernon In. Half sister Brenda Strickland of Herrin, half brother J.L. Thornton of Herrin 6 grand childern, Michael Stillwagoner, Johnathon Stillwagoner, Brent Watson, Steve Watson Jr., T.J. Watson, Brandon Watson, 1 Step grandson Michael Freezeland and 1 grandaughter Melanie Stillwagoner. Also special friend Charles Murray of Herrin. Memorials can be made to 1st Baptist Church or to Tip Hospice. Funeral will be 11:00am Thursday at the funeral home Rev. Don Colson & Rev. Fred Edwards will officiate. Visitation will be Wed. from 5:00pm to 8:00pm also at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park, Herrin, IL Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery.
