Deon Sellars

Mr. Deon Sellars, 69 of Herrin, Illinois died on Monday, December 30, 2013, at home in Herrin, Illinois surrounded by his family and friends after a 10 year battle with MSA. He was born in Williamson County to Coy and Eva (Bloodworth) Sellars. Deon graduated from Herrin High School and VTI-SIU as a machinist. He later completed the apprenticeship with IBEW and became a journeyman electrician. He retired from USP Marion as an electrician. He was a 32 degree mason and a member of Herrin Prairie Lodge #693. Deon was a very talented man who enjoyed restoring antique cars, refinishing furniture and "in town" farming with his dad. He is survived by his wife, Eloise (Aronson) Sellars of Herrin,daughter Carol and her husband John Iden of Platte City MO, 2 granddaughters, Corinne and Marissa. Also surviving are 2 brothersVernell and Becky Sellars of Marion and Paul Sellars of Alton, 3 sisters Joan Parker of Romeoville Ill , Verla Parks of Geneva Ill and Beverly and Gary Massetto of St Charles MO, 1 sister-in-law Lou Sellars of Champaign Ill, 3 brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Karlee and Steve Pentecost of Chesapeake VA., Beth and Brad Humes of Belleville Ill.,Carl and Carol Aronson of Herrin and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws Knute and Helen Aronson, 2 brothers J.W.Sellars and Bill Sellars, 2 sister-in-laws, Doris Sellars and Geneva Sellars, 2 brother-in-laws, Jack Parker and Gene Parks and 2 nephews Stevie Sellars and Jim Martin. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Frankie Miller and Margaret Jones, his nurses Kevin and Janet as well as Dr. Karen Strack, Dr. Alex Garrido, Dr. Laurence Kinsella and Team Blue with Hospice. Most of all a very special thank you to friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Ill, envelopes will be provided by the funeral home A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Mr. Jim Boles officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL. Masonic rites will be preformed at 12:30 pm by Herrin Prairie Lodge #693. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue , Herrin, Illinois.
