Bill Orso

Mr. William Orso, age 75, of Herrin, IL, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, IL surrounded by his wife and family. Bill served in the Navy for 3 years. He worked for Olin Mathison as a machinist for 16 years and then worked at Old Ben Coal also as a machinist for 26 years and served as President of Local Union 8317 for 23 years until he retired. Bill was born in Herrin July 19, 1937 to Bob and Sarah (Sowman) Orso Bill united in marriage to Shirley Ogden on July 3, 1959 He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Shirley Orso 1 son Tony and wife Denise Orso of Marion, 3 daughters Sara and husband Kevin Ranchino of Herrin, Angi and husband Aaron Fouste of Waterloo Ill., Maribeth and husband Daniel Kay of Herrin. Also surviving are grandchildren; Bart and wife Noah Orso of Herrin, Britta Orso of Marion, Amanda and Kyle Ranchino of Herrin, Mercedes Ingersoll of Wood River, Chase and Savannah Guercio of Waterloo and Rusty Kay of Herrin, Great grandchildren; Gia Orso of Herrin and Dawson Ingersoll of Wood River Ill.: 1 sister Reba and husband Carl Harrison of Herrin, 2 brother-in-laws 5 sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews and his loving dog Tinkerbelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Amy Ann Orso, 1 brother Don Orso and 1 sister-in-law and 1 brother-in-law Shirley and Don Patrick, 2 nephews and 2 nieces. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Ill. Envelops will be provided by the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, Herrin, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Funeral service will be at Van Natta Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 3, 2013, Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens, ,
