Violet Groves ENERGY — Violet Groves, 89, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, in Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Richard Pearce and the Rev. John Yeo officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Parents Group, c/o H Group Rehab, in West Frankfort because of her love for her special grandson. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home. Mrs. Groves was of the Pentecostal faith and loved gospel music. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching television, eating pizza and working jigsaw puzzles with them. She will be missed by her family and friends for her caring and gentle spirit. She was born May 6, 1922, in Energy to George and Flora Belle (Morgan) Graves. She married James Ernest Groves in September 1943 in Cape Girardeau, and they enjoyed 36 years together until his death in 1979. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ann and husband Phillip Adams of Energy; one son, Charlie and wife Yvonne Groves of Herrin; two grandsons, Brian Adams of Energy and James and wife Mindy Groves of Elkville; three granddaughters, Kimberly and husband Bill Swinford of Marion, Amy and husband Keith Null of O’Fallon and Laura Groves of Herrin and 7 great grand children Riley, Samuel, Ross, Sophia, Madison, Cameron and Zoe. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, three sisters and two infant children.
