Geneva Baney

Mrs. Geneva Ruth (Curry) Baney, age 83, of West Frankfort, IL, went to be with the Lord at 3:42 pm Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin, IL. She was born in Sesser to the late Lawrence and Freda (Merkel) Tucker. Geneva lived in Sesser until 1998, moved to Marion, then to West Frankfort in 2004 where she made her home until her passing. She was a member of Full Gospel Apostolic Church in Buckner. Geneva taught Sunday school and was a member and past president of the Ladies Aux. at the church. Geneva worked at the Lynn-Gai Garment Factory in Sesser and Garment Factory in Zeigler. She also worked as a cook at several nursing homes in the area and owned a dog grooming shop in Sesser for several years. She was married to Farrell Eugene Curry on January 1, 1944 , they were married for 47 years until he passed away she and then married Gailord M. Baney in 1993. She is survived by 4 daughters, Rev. Naomi (Richard) Edmond of Nashville Ill., Leatta (Wayne) Baney of West Frankfort, Wanda (Gary) Johns of Pittsburg, Debi Curry of West Frankfort. She is also survived by grand children, Dellan Harvey, Robin Johnston, James Johnston, Tanya Sue (Greg) Watkins, Dennis (Dawn) Johnston, Jamie Edmonds, Vicki (Tim) Spiller, David (Nikki) Brandalise and Ron (Debbie) Frost. Stepchildren, Wayne Baney, Rev. Sheirlyn Baney of West Frankfort. There are 7 step grand children 18 great grand children, 17 step grand children, 15 great great grand children, 6 step great great grand children. Sister, Lulubelle Paxton of Christopher and aunt Martha Roberts of O'Fallon Ill. and several nieces and nephews. She was Preceded in death by her parents, husbands 1 sister Imagene Frank 1 grand son Calvin Eugene Harvey. Service will be Wednesday 1:00pm at Van Natta Funeral Home in Sesser with the Rev. Naomi Edmond officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Van Natta Funeral Home, Highway 148 between Christopher and Sesser. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL
