Alene Mezo

Mrs. Alene Mezo, age 89, of Herrin, IL, died Friday, December 16, 2011. She was born on January 5, 1922 in Crenshaw Ill. to Ed and Bessie (Wilson) Moake. She was married to Joe Mezo he preceded her in death. She worked at Norge for 21 years. Mrs. Mezo is survived by 1 daughter Jody and Jim Murphy of Herrin, 1 son Floyd Mezo and friend Susan Smith of Energy Ill. , 2 daughter-in-laws Dee Dee and husband Roy Anderson of Carterville Ill. and Melanie and husband Mark Colombo of Marion, Other survivors include 5 grandsons Jim and wife Jamie Murphy of Highland Ill., F.L. and wife Dorothy Mezo of Edwardsville, Tim Murphy of Energy, Dax Mezo of Herrin and Tyler Mezo of Herrin and 3 great grandchildren; Kailee Murphy of Energy, Joseph Mezo of Edwardsville and Maria Mezo of Edwardsville. She also has 1 sister Sue Emery of Marion and 2 Brothers Bill and wife Carol Moake of Marion and George Moake of Marion and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mezo had 2 special friends Helen and Jan Ramsey of Pittsburg and several adopted grand children. Mrs. Mezo was preceded in death by parent, husband, 1 son Bud Mezo,3 sisters Sarah Craig, Lula Mae Harpstrite and ruby Manier, 4 brothers Robert Moake, Bennie Moake and infant twins. Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park, Herrin, IL Funeral service were at Herrin City Cemetery at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 19, 2011, Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL.
