James Bracy HERRIN - James R. Bracy, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in First United Methodist Church in Herrin, with the Rev. Ed Hoke officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 S. Park Ave., in Herrin. Memorials may be made to Marion Medical Mission. The online donation site is marionmedical.org. Mr. Bracy was owner of Bracy Insurance and Real Estate in Herrin for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Board of Trustees. He belonged to Methodist Men's at the church and was chairman of the Trust Committee at the church. Mr. Bracy was a member of Herrin Masonic Lodge 693 and Shriners, and he served as past president of Herrin Jaycees and Herrin Chamber of Commerce. He served on United Way Board of Directors, and he was a Boy Scout, a Scout master and recipient of the Silver Beaver. He was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Herrin to Floyd P. and Ruth Woodley Bracy. Survivors include his wife, Joan (Triplett) Bracy; two children, Richard and wife Kristen Bracy of Park City, Utah, and Debbie Bracy of Lake of Egypt; four grandchildren, Ryan Bracy of Hebron, Ky., Tiffany Bracy of Knoxville, Tenn., Brandon Nipper of Seattle and Evan Collier of Hurst; and one great-grandchild, Evaley Collier.
