Muriel Vitula (Tyner) Popham, age 95, passed away March 31, 2011, in Stillwater, OK. She was born to Thomas and Bessie (James) Tyner October 27, 1915 in Crainville, IL. Muriel was married to Paul Popham, April 17, 1937 in Herrin, IL. She worked in manufacturing for Allen Industries and as Financial Secretary of the First Baptist Church in Herrin, IL. She was a Past Worthy Matron and 50 year member of Anna Chapter in Herrin and was active in the Stillwater Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Muriel was a member of the Stillwater First Baptist Church since moving to Stillwater in 1983. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, reading, bowling and playing pool. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and son, Phillip Neal Popham. She is survived by a son Thomas and daughter-in-law Sue Hines Popham. Muriel had four grandchildren: Phillip Popham and wife Holly of Columbia, MO, Alise Isbell and husband Matt of Houston, TX, Peter Popham of Driggs, ID and James Popham and wife Amy of Enid, OK. She had three great-grandchildren: Austin and Ashley Popham of Columbia, MO and Marossie Popham of Enid, OK. Four nieces and two nephews survive. Viewing will be Friday, April 8th , 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park Avenue, Herrin, IL.
