Mike Tomkins

Mike Tomkins, age 39, of Herrin, IL, died Monday, April 4, 2011 in Perryville, MO. He was born in Effingham to Garland and Shirley Rincker Tompkins they survive. Other survivors include 1 sister and her husband Nanette and John Horton of O'Fallon Ill and 2 nephews Caleb and Jacob. He also is survived by his fiancée Dana Grogg of Farmington Mo. and Grand Mother Alice Tomkins of Mattoon Il. and several cousins , aunts and uncles. Mike was baptized December 26, 1971 in Stewardson Ill at the Trinity Lutheran Church and the was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herrin May 18, 1986. He graduated Herrin high school in 1990 then went to Logan community college. Mike worked at Kroger's for 17 years then went to Wal Mart . Mike was an avid sports fan and was a devoted fan to the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas Jay Hawks. Mike was preceded in death by 1 sister Kelly, Grandparents an 1 Uncle. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00am with burial in the Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson Ill. at 1:30pm. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin Ill. Memorials can be made to Lions Club or to donor choice envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
